Pet Friendly Alberta & BC Hotels

Many of us are pet owners just like you, so we understand the importance of bringing them along! To cover the additional maintenance costs of keeping a pet in-room, an additional per night fee for each pet will be charged to your invoice by the hotel. If you are traveling with a large number of animals or a very large dog, please call ahead as rates may vary.

Here are some tips when traveling with your pet:

Plan Ahead:  Make sure you stop every 3-5 hours to allow your dog to relieve itself, have a drink, and stretch its legs. Make a list of veterinary hospitals along the way.

Pack Appropriately: Good things to bring along in the car include your list of rest stops and veterinary hospitals, a leash, a comfortable crate or kennel to keep your pet secure, water and bowls, treats, a few toys, a blanket or dog bed, bags to pick up waste, necessary medications, your pet’s medical records.

Bring Familiar Items: Your pet’s usual toys, snacks, and food will help to maintain some semblance of routine. Your pet is already under a lot of stress from travel related change, a familiar toy can help.

Bring ID: Make up temporary ID tags with a number that you can be reached at while you are out of town.

Don’t Leave Your Pet Unattended: Never leave your pet unattended in the hotel room. Even if your pet is mild-tempered and well-behaved, hotels insist on this for the safety of their maintenance staff, as well as for your pets.

Keep a Routine: Pets thrive on routine, and the unpredictable nature of traveling can be very stressful. Whenever possible, try to maintain your pet’s normal sleeping, feeding, and walking schedules to avoid upsetting them unduly.
